Bo Butner ready for round wins in JHG Chevy at the Mile-High Nationals

MORRISON, Colo. (July 16, 2022) – The Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage Chevrolet Camaro had a sassy attitude on Thunder Mountain for qualifying at the Dodge Power Brokers NHRA Mile-High Nationals, and the #JHGDriven team rather liked it. The JHG Pro Stocker shed the somewhat meek stance of recent times and put on a display of well-calculated horsepower to claim the No. 5 spot and a first-round meeting with Greg Anderson on Sunday.

“I feel really good,” said Butner, who was runner-up to Rookie of the Year Tanner Gray at the 2017 Mile-High Nationals. “Looking at the graphs [after qualifying], we see a lot of promise with the JHG Chevy, so we’re excited for tomorrow.”

The first session of qualifying resulted in a modest 7.028-second pass at 195.11 mph, but it was the later Friday session that got everyone’s attention. Butner and his JHG Camaro came to the starting line fully loaded and tuned appropriately for the thin mile-high air, which allowed him to race to a 6.960, 195.34 and catapult to the No. 5 position.

On Saturday, Butner effectively preserved his position with a 7.008, 195.36 in the early round and a 6.963, 196.10 in the final session. His match with Anderson will mark the first time the two have met on Sunday this year.

“We get to race Greg first pair out, and that’s going to be fun,” said Butner, who raced under the KB Racing banner alongside Anderson from his Pro Stock debut until the end of 2020. “I like racing up here, and I don’t have a win here yet in any class. But I’d just like to get a trophy anywhere; I’m not going to be picky about where it happens. The sooner the better, and I do have a lot of confidence in the car. I’m ready for some round wins.”

Final eliminations for the Dodge Power Brokers NHRA Mile-High Nationals are scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 17, 2022 beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
